New England Patriots at Houston Texans

  1. The Patriots and Texans will be meeting for the 10th time in the last nine seasons (regular and postseason), which is the most games between two non-divisional opponents since 2012. New England had won eight consecutive games against Houston before falling, 28-22, in Week 13 last season.
  2. The Patriots defeated the Ravens, 23-17, at home on Sunday night, rushing for 173 yards. It was the Patriots' third straight game with 150+ rushing yards, their longest such streak since December 2008. New England has not rushed for 150 or more yards in four straight games since 1998 (six).
  3. The Texans fell to the Browns, 10-7, in Cleveland in Week 10. The seven points Houston scored are tied for its fewest in any Deshaun Watson start (2019, Week 11 at Baltimore). The Texans had four drives inside the Browns' 30-yard line and failed to score on three of them (downs, pooch punt and missed FG).
  4. Since Week 6, the Patriots have just two passing touchdowns and both came last week against Baltimore, one thrown by Cam Newton and one thrown by wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Meyers has 712 career receiving yards, including a team-leading 353 yards in 2020, but has yet to score an NFL TD.
  5. Deshaun Watson reached 1500 career passing attempts in the loss to the Browns, which is the minimum for NFL career passing ranks. Watson ranks second all-time among qualified quarterbacks in completion percentage (67.0; Drew Brees: 67.8) and passer rating (102.2; Aaron Rodgers: 103.1).
  6. New England has allowed 7.82 yards per pass play this season, second most in the NFL (Jax -- 8.22), and Houston has gained 7.31 yards per pass play, fourth most in the league. The Texans are allowing 167.4 rushing yards per game this season, most in the NFL, while the Patriots are gaining 161.1 rushing yards per game this season, third most in the league.
